Our Mission
The Salant Investment Team provides students with a hands-on experience managing securities in a portfolio that operates as part of the University endowment. Members develop their oral presentation skills by creating pitches for critique by team members and other audience members. The team aims to outperform the most relevant benchmark, the S&P 500, and it has been successful in doing so since inception. The team also commits tens of thousands of dollars to supporting financial aid. A portion of the portfolio is withdrawn annually to provide scholarship support for undergraduate students in the Schools of Engineering and Arts and Sciences.
Career Placement
The quantitative and financial skills developed on the team position members to become attractive candidates for top jobs in finance across the country. Alumni and current members have taken positions in investment banking, sales & trading, capital markets, investment research and asset management at Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Barclays, Credit Suisse, Bank of America, Evercore, Deutsche Bank, and Point72. Further, many members choose to pursue careers in consulting, such as our alumni at McKinsey and Bain. To foster alumni relations within the Salant network and to promote our members’ job placement, we hold an annual networking trip to visit the top investment banks in New York City.
